Sorry for my late wishes as I was too busy with my new year preparation and heavy workload in the office.

As usual, i went back to Malacca to celebrate chinese new year with my family.  The happy moment past very fast, today is already the 6th day of Chinese new year!  I have already get back to my workplace on Friday. 

The heat of chinese new year was not there if compared to last year, this is due to the bad economy downturn in the world which had badly affected us in Malaysia too, especially those in manufacturing industries.   The situation is predicted to be worsen after the celebration of Chinese new year, as more retrenchment can be foreseen, and pay-cut due to reduce production in the factories…

So, a lot of people have to tighten their belt, think wisely before making any purchase for the celebration.   
Nowadays, to save more is viable than to spend more, in order to prepare for any unexpected emergency needs in the near future.

Eventhough with less spending this year, we are able to celebrate this “Ox” year with great happiness and meaningful…it is all depends on how you celebrate it and with whom you celebrate it with!

I truly hope that you too have a great Chinese New Year and wish this Chinese “OX” Year will bring us good luck and full of excitement to all of us in the world!

Year 2008 has finally ends few hours ago!  I believe most of us are always look at the past on the new year’s eve, to see what we have done so far in the past, whether we have achieved our goals or fulfilled our new year’s resolutions set in the beginning of the year!  If not, what can we do to make it happen, what went wrong, and how to resolve it in the coming new year!  And of course, plan ahead for the new year!

The most importantly is the past has already past, now is the critical time to plan ahead for your coming new year, or what we say a “Realistic” Goals!  Make sure we don’t repeat our mistakes made in the past.  This is important for everyone, especially those who eagerly want to succeed in their lives!  A good and realistic plan ahead will determine your future success! 

Not only plan your new year’s resolutions, but it is good to disclose it out if you want to make it happen, cause by doing so you will have a commitment to work it out and share your achievement with whom already knew your new year’s resolutions at the end of the year!     

I am not going to reveal my year 2008’s resolutions here, as i didn’t disclose it here too.  But i will disclose my 5 major New Year’s Resolutions for 2009 here, and will share my achievement at the end of the year with all of you too!  You may not be interested to know, but i do it for myself, i want to commit my goals, and will make it happen!  Here, it goes…

1.  Healthy Living
    I have been practising quite a long time to sleep late at night, which is definitely bad for health.  The golden time for our body metabolism process is between 10pm - 1am, this is the time when our liver functioning to extract out toxin from our body if we sleep well.  A good eating habit, and more exercises is also good for health beside sleep early. 

2.  Multiple Sources of Passive Income
     Now everywhere is facing economy crisis, which affected a lot of people who has been retrenched due to companies downsizing or even seize operation.  In other words, there is no job security in the market who is under employment like me.  Depending solely on a “Job” to fund your living is no longer a way to live in this society.  This situation is very obvious especially in this economy crisis, most of them being retrenched from their ”Only” job, are having difficulties in finding another job to fund their living.  And a job itself can’t make us more money for future emergency needs!  Reason being is that people now have more commitment to take care of and what they earn is just enough to cover their monthly commitment, so left little for savings!  So, this is the main reason why i started my internet marketing business, beside giving me another sources of income, but more time to spend with my family! 

3.  Monetary Value of USD10,000 A Year (Part Time)
    To set a “realistic” figure for my internet marketing business, i will give myself a Net Earning of USD10,000 per year, i know this is achievable provided if i work it the “correct” way with the “correct” mindset and attitude.  Some experienced Internet Marketer will say it is too low, cause they can make more than 10x of what i have set for myself easily.  Of course, i won’t set it too high, for a newbie like me, this is very encouraging if i can achieve it!  Again, this is my minimum target, of course i will try to hit it as higher as possible!!  Just to clarify, this is only my part time extra income, as i am currently working full time.       

4.  Travel to Overseas
     A break is needed after a year long hard work!  My life slogan is “Live our lives to the fullest”!  Enjoy our lives everyday, reward ourselves for our hard work!  This is the way i reward myself if i achieve my target earning of USD10,000 net a year (3rd New Year’s Resolutions)!  I will reveal to you my place of visit end of the year, depending on how much i have achieved! 

5.  Lose Additional 3kgs in Weight
     I am currently a little overweight by 2Kgs, so by practising a healthy lifestyles and more exercises in this new year, i hope i can achieve my Ideal weight of 50Kgs by end of the Year!

Generally, these are my 5 major New Year’s Resolutions set today.  I want you all to be my witness and act as a “Drive” for myself to make it happen!  Thanks for spending your valuable time to read my post here, and i take this opportunity to wish all of you have a Happy and Prosperous New Year!!!

On the third day of our trip, we paid a visit to their famous Window of the World in Shenzhen.  It is amazing!  This is a place where you must not afford to miss!  I guarantee that you will never regret to pay RMB120 for the entrance ticket!  If you don’t go this place when visit Shenzhen the first time, it means you never go to Shenzhen at all!  Trust me, you will never regret!

Due to the size of the Park, it is advisable to wear a comfortable shoes for the visit.  For elderly or families with children, you may consider taking their Vintage train, or golf car for the visit of the Park at a fee.

It is advisable to visit Window of the World in the morning as it is not so warm unless it is Winter or Fall season.  But it has an amazing scene during nightfall once lights are lit up, whereby charming and exotic sentiment will be prevailing over the Park!  It is this grand entertaining performance on an open stage combining with multinational songs and dances that will highlight the very gala night of the Park.

Besides, there have Song and Dance Performance, tea ceremony, games, and Grand evening show perform everyday at different location in the Park, and the time for the performance has been preset by the organiser.  You will have the timetable outlay the different types of show and time for the performance at the entrance of the Window of the World.  However, you may have the chance to view the Fireworks Display at the L’Are de Triomphe, The Carnival Parades, the wedding ceremony show and lots more during weekends and Festive holidays! 

Honestly speaking, we have spent more than 6 hours to visit this Park by walking one location to another!  We have taken plenty of photo almost from all locations in the Window of the World. 

Hey, I was just back from Shenzhen last 4 days, it was a breakaway travel with my cousins. This is my first time went to Shenzhen, China. I remembered i bought Shenzhen package through Airasia somewhere in the beginning of year 2008. The package included return air ticket and 4 nights accomodation in Guang Xin hotel in Shenzhen. It cost me about RM800 per person. It was a free and easy package!

We departed on the 29th of November from Malaysia, and took us around 3 1/2 hours to arrive at the Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport. The season in Shenzhen now is Winter, temperature ranging from 14 - 19 degree celcius. It is still ok for us as a malaysian, a cooling feel and good for walking around without sweat! After checked out from the Shenzhen Airport, we took an airport taxi to our hotel, Guang Xin Hotel in Ren Min South Road. The journey from Shenzhen Airport to our hotel was about 45 minutes. It costs me about RMB120 for the ride.

Guang Xin hotel is a 2-star hotel located in the city of Shenzhen. It is quite an old hotel but cleanliness is still consider good. The hotel located in the city of the Shenzhen, i can give it’s location a 5-star rating! As right opposite the Guang Xin hotel is a big shopping mall, and a subway station is just underneath the shopping mall. The subway train can take you to almost all famous tourists attractions of Shenzhen at a very competitive price. From the first station (Luo Hu) to the last station (Window of the World) only cost you RMB 5 - 6 per person.

If you are someone who loves shopping and bargaining for the best price, you must visit DongMen Night Market. DongMen Shopping District is a famous shopping heaven for everyone, it is happening and lively especially at night. DongMen Shopping District’s concept is something like our Petaling Street and Kota Raya, but it is far more bigger and more varieties if compared to ours! The prices offered for the stuff are also far more competitive than in Malaysia. Just imagine, i bought 2 handbags for about RMB60, meaning it is only cost me about RM15 for a handbag, which can be bought in Malaysia at about RM30 - 40 for the similar handbag! In other words, you can only buy 1 handbag in Malaysia, but you can buy 2 in Shenzhen! Isn’t it worthwhile!

DongMen Shopping District is only 10 - 15 minutes walk from our Guang Xin hotel, but if you are lazy to walk, you can take a subway train from Guomao to Laojie, just from a station to another only. It only costs you RMB2 for the ticket!

DongMen Shopping District has a lot of Two Dollar Shops, meaning that the shops are selling their products from RMB2, ranging from beauty accessories, toys, handphone accessories, men and women clothing, etc.. these shops usually crowded with people who buy it as a souvenir for their friends. A kind reminder for all of you, China practise using own recycle bag for carrying stuff purchase, so do bring along your own recycle bag when go for shopping! If not, you have to buy their recycle bag at the cost of RMB2 - 5 per bag!

DongMen Shopping District is a place for people who love to bargain, always ask immediately for 50% - 70% off from its original price offered. But once the shopkeeper accept with your counter offer, you must purchase it. Don’t simply ask for discount if you are not sure of purchase the item.

Shenzhen people speak Mandarin and most of them can speak Cantonese well. Do not speak English with them, as they are not good at it and they are only proud of their own mother tongue. Generally speaking, Shenzhen people are not so friendly to visitors like us, especially when you are asking for explanation or guidance, they may not be passionate in helping you.

On the second day, we planned a day trip to Guangzhou. From our hotel at Ren Min Nan Road, we walked to the Luohu Train station, which is about 10 - 15 minutes walk from our hotel. We bought a train ticket to Guangzhou East at about RMB75 (single trip for Economy seat) per person. The journey from Shenzhen to Guangzhou East by train took about 1 hour to reach. It is very convenient by taking a train, you can also go to other places like Hong Kong, Hung Hom, DongGuan, Foshan, Penyu…etc. Each place has its own tourist attractions. The interval time for each train is about 1 hour.

Guangzhou is also one of the famous “Shoppers’ Paradise” The people in Guangzhou mostly speak Cantonese and they are more friendly as compared to Shenzhen people. Once reached Guangzhou East Railway Station, we took a metro train from the same Guangzhou East Railway station to Changshou Lu Metro Station in Line 1 (Guangzhou Metro Line have 4 lines to different places) to Shangxia Jiu Lu Pedestrian Street, a place where you must not afford to miss who first come to Guangzhou!

Shangxia Jiu Lu Pedestrian Street is the first commercial pedestrian street in Guangzhou. On this street lie more than 200 stores, especially those brand name restaurants and teahouses open here. From 13:00 to 21:00 on weekends and holidays and on every night, Shangxia Jiu Lu is restricted to pedestrians only. Here, you can find nice men and women clothing priced from RMB35 per piece, shoes, jewellery, varieties of chinese tea, children wear, home furnishing, famous chinese food, etc..at an unbelievable low prices!!!

Even if you don’t buy anything, just walking along this street you will feel the cultural atmosphere in the street.

We have spent about 6 hours on the Shangxia Jiu Lu Pedestrian Street, experiencing their cultural and food in Guangzhou, testing their tea at one of the leading tea seller (Tien Fu) in China. We finally bought 15 pieces of women clothing at average RMB35 per piece, toys and chinese tea! Shenzhen and Guangzhou start getting dark at 6pm, so we have to rush back to Shenzhen after a whole day trip in Guangzhou!

It is a great loss for those who are interested in making money online and those who already making a decent from the internet fail to turn up for this first ever world-class internet marketing event in Malaysia. I believe all of us have read newspaper and listened to news from many sources everyday.  The economy nowadays becomes weaker due to many reasons.  From fuel price crisis, real estate industry in US to political issue .. causes the world economic slowdown.  

World economic slowdown has given a huge impact to many industries in the world.  Declining of Stock market, higher unemployement rate, recession, criminal rate increase due to increases of jobless people, bankruptcy and taken over of few major international corporation in the US (ie. Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, AIG..).  It affects us too who live in Malaysia!

In Malaysia, our Government has announced that whoever earning a monthly salary of RM2,000.00 has been categorised as a low income group.  In other words, we need to have an income of RM3,000.00 and above in order to live averagely in Malaysia.  But the question is how to increase our monthly income if our current employers do not plan to give us a wage increase in the near future due to this economic slowdown?

Look for other job with a higher pay?  I personally think that this is NOT a good solution.  Employers nowadays are trying to cut their cost to employ more staff.  If you quit your current job, you may face problem finding a job for yourself.  Besides, employer will mostly keep the old staff if there is any retrenchment happen in the company.  So the chances of new employee being retrenched from the company is higher if compared to old staff!  Not worth to take this risk if you have a lot of commitment to take care of.  

The best and only solution is to have a multiple streams of income.  Depending only on a job to finance your monthly expenses has never be enough if compared to someone who has a multiple sources of income, do you agree with me?  The reason being is that if you lose your main income one day, you still have other sources of income to support your monthly commitment eventhough it might not be your major income.  You can look for other job without hurry and not feeling panic at that critical moment.

Even if you are not the main breadwinner at home, and just want to earn some extra pocket money or to help up in the family, you too can look for other sources of income.  They are mainly students, housewives, retirees.. or anyone else who has more time to earn some “extra” money!
